Approach

Living and working from a coastal environment influences my choice of materials. I paint and screen print my imagery onto recycled sails.

My installation work consists of marine studies that I develop into vibrant bio luminescent hand woven sculptures in El wire, monofilament, glow in the dark and light reflective yarns.

I am now developing resin casting combining it with woven wire work to create contemporary jewellery, window sculptures. and garden sculptures.

Jo Jack BA Contemporary Textiles

I am a textile designer who works across printed, woven and knitted textiles. I draw inspiration from my Shetland coastal surroundings and the islands rich textile heritage.

I have exhibited both my installation and printed sailcloth work locally, at new designers London and on the Scottish mainland. My subject matter dictates the material and choice of my expressive form.

I acquired my jellyjo nick name when working in schools and playgroups on marine based art workshops through Arts Play and decided to adopt it as my logo..
